IMPORTANT NOTE:
LawTutorial.COM materials are designed for California law schools and the California bar examination. We recognize that many courses, especially core multi-state subjects, are very similar substantively regardless of jurisdiction. Students enrolled in law schools outside of California can therefore adapt materials to their jurisdictions if they wish, but should be aware that hypotheticals and practice exam questions given in our course materials may not reflect laws in jurisdictions outside of California.

Dennis S. Higa, Esq.

Dennis Higa has dedicated the last twelve years of his career to law teaching at the Santa Clara University School of Law. From 1989 to 2002, Mr. Higa helped develop then directed the School of Law's Academic Success Program (ASP), a program which garnered national recognition for its unique teaching methodology by incorporating students' diverse learning styles into the development of successful study skills.

During his twelve years working with ASP, Mr. Higa discovered his own unique effectiveness in helping students improve their performance on an individual basis. Combining his experience in teaching traditional law school courses such as Legal Process and Legal Writing & Analysis with his experience in teaching numerous workshops for ASP, Mr. Higa built a teaching model that takes into account different learning styles for substantive law study as well as non-academic factors that can affect law school or bar exam performance.

Mr. Higa has applied this teaching model to help students on an individual basis succeed in passing the California Bar Exam for over ten years. He has achieved much success particularly with repeat takers.

Dennis S. Higa is an attorney licensed in both California and Hawaii. He graduated from the Santa Clara University School of Law in 1990. Prior to coming to the bay area for law school, Mr. Higa spent eight years in hotel management in his hometown of Honolulu. He is an alum of University of Hawaii, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.

Thuy N. Bui, Esq.

Thuy Bui is a business and legal professional who spent five years in legal education prior to joining the high-tech industry. From 1999 to 2002, Ms. Bui worked in the corporate environment in various capacities, from business development to strategic planning, often utilizing her legal background in contract and partnership negotiations.

In returning to legal education and joining LawTutorial.COM, Ms. Bui is re-teaming with Mr. Higa, with whom she had collaborated from 1995 to 1999 to expand ASP services at the Santa Clara University School of Law to reach all first-year students. Through the four years of working together, Ms. Bui and Mr. Higa co-developed their teaching model and share similar approaches in a teaching methodology that takes into account diverse learning styles and non-academic factors to improve students' academic performance. Ms. Bui has also applied this teaching model to help students succeed at passing the California Bar Exam and the "Baby Bar."

Ms. Bui is most recently an alumna of Stanford Law School, where she served as a Carl Spaeth Fellow from 1994 to 1996 and earned her advanced law degree (J.S.M.) in 1996. During and after the fellowship, Ms. Bui taught at several law schools throughout the bay area, including Stanford Law School, Santa Clara University School of Law, and New College School of Law. Her course curriculum spans Immigration Law, International Law, International Human Rights Law, Refugee Law, Legal Process and Legal Research & Writing.

A licensed California attorney, Ms. Bui graduated from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1994. She received dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in 1991 from the Univerity of California, San Diego, in Management Science and Literature/Creative Writing.
